Hollywood Minute: Paris and Madden split and Rihanna gets ink!

Paris Hilton and Benji Madden Split Up

Paris Hilton and Benji Madden's romance is over.
The pair split a few days ago after more than nine months of dating.
"She is saddened by the breakup but they're just too different and they wanted different things in life," says a source close to Hilton. "He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break."

Top Model Recap: McKey Wins!

Despite a somewhat awkward walk — and being called Lurch-like by Paulina — McKey’s strong, statuesque body won her the title of America’s Next Top Model, sending Sam home in second place and a disappointed Analeigh in third.
Congrats!!!

..for having to take £20bn of our money. To save his bank or for more personal reasons? It is highly likely that we will also be sorry if the £15bn in new shares is not taken up at the offer price. It could cost us another £5bn. The £5bn Pref. shares we are buying, for the bank to buy-back back later, will no doubt cost us a fair bit as well. Good thinking on the part of our 'financial wizards'?
New Territory
I'm taking today off, but all I had to do was 60 min. (all?) elliptical. I think recovery will be more beneficial to me at this point. I keep replaying in my head the thread RC posted about the importance of diet vs. exercise. If you have to choose one over the other, it needs to be nutrition first. I'll pick back up on Friday. We're working legs. (where's the drooling smiley)
It was funny RC mentioned he thought this goal might have a profound emotional impact on me, because a couple days before that post I had been feeling... weird. I finally put my finger on the weirdness. I'm entering new territory and it's just that it's all unfamiliar for me. From the beginning, I've been able to remember times where I had been in that paticular place before, but now... I'm moving out of anyplace I've ever experienced.
I was telling Mark the other day it's crazy that even though I'm not to the lowest weight I had seen in the last several years, I was definitely in a place I've never been before. I weigh 182 (minus a few oz. ) and my lowest weight as an adult was 174. At that time I was in a size 12. Now I'm almost 10lbs heavier and in a size smaller clothes. And anything below a size 10 would put me pre-highschool, in which I was technically a "kid". And how can you compare anything as an adult to when you were a kid? You're just too physically and emotionally different. So this is all new to me.
I'm also building more self-esteem by not giving up when I sometimes really just don't know if I can take anymore, just to realize... I don't have a choice when it comes to giving up or to keep pushing forward - continuing is inevitable.
I've been putting myself in uncomfortable situations in order to induce more growth and sometimes I wonder why I do that, it's almost involuntary though - or maybe I'm just crazy. Then, like a viscious cycle, I've been generating change within my relationship, and it's been real scary lately, as most of you know some of it already. The scary part is knowing I can't change or control what others do, and it's up to them to change or grow. Putting trust in someone else in that way is a very difficult feeling to deal with.
Then there's the hope of a life much better than I've ever experienced waiting for me in the future because of the more difficult things I will endure. That hope keeps my fire lit.
Anyway... profound emotional impact in many ways, yes.

The Spanish Street Fighter... Pianist
A lot of people ask me "Seth, where can I go to hear the best in Street Fighter piano arrangements, performed live?"
My answer is always the same, and if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: the Math Department Faculty concerts in Barcelona.

"The Seagull": Towards a Typology of Delinquent Public Service Employees
"The Seagull"
Seagulls may be found in all sectors of public service, but were first identified and classified in the UK police services. These selfish creatures are identified quite easily by their troublesome and selfish behaviour, which involves arriving seemingly from nowhere then making a huge amount of noise, flapping around the environment, annoying everyone.
Seagulls are the dirty birds of our public services
Before moving on and leaving more capable but less well rewarded professionals to clean up their mess, seagulls create headaches and pandemonium while shitting on everyone and everything around them.
Seagulls became particularly prevalent and problematic in the UK police service after Thatcher came to power.
Through a series of pay rises, eradication of police houses, university graduate accelerated promotion schemes, the implementation of Home Office junk science polices that led to the dramatic decline of beat policing, and by setting the police against the "respectable" working classes by way of the miners strike Thatcher and then all successive UK governments have allowed selfish and self-centred CV building Seagulls to thrive in our police services to the detriment of the service and the general public.
New Bionic Commando Goodness
Over at the official Bionic Commando site, they're adding a bit of new content and information. You'll find new characters, weapons, organizations, enemies, and information.
The Characters section has heroes you already know, like Nathan, Super Joe, and Mag from the online comic. You'll also see Silver, the new character art above.
Weapons is obvious. See all the cool toys you get to make things explodey in the game!
The Enemies area shows the basic grunts, up to the Biomech and Polycraft. The information there will be useful for learning their tactics in trying to bring you down...
And finally in the Organizations section there's plenty of info on the various factions you'll be dealing with, either as friend or foe.

Key Passage: Acts 10:9-33
Topic: Christian Living
"What God has made clean, do not call common" (Acts 10:15, ESV).
I remember hearing this story about Peter and his vision when I was young. It was strange then, and it's still strange today.
Imagine lying on a lawn chair, enjoying the summer sun, then looking up and seeing an enormous sheet filled with thousands of animals hovering above you. What does it mean? you wonder.
Peter was confused too, but God explained the situation to him.
"What God has made clean, do not call common" (Acts 10:15, ESV). This moment in Peter's life marks a turning point in his understanding of God's new relationship with humanity.
Throughout the Old Testament, God had dropped hints that someday the whole world would worship Him. But up to this point, God's attention had been on the Jewish nation--His chosen people.
With Peter's vision, the secret is out, so to speak. Now, the whole world--Jew and Gentile, "clean" and "unclean"--had the opportunity to enjoy a relationship with God through Jesus. As the apostle Paul would later say, "There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all Christians--you are one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28, NLT).
Even today, it's sometimes easy to form our own little groups, to see ourselves as better or more special to God than others. We become afraid of reaching out to someone in need just because they're different.
But Jesus died for everyone. And if you're not a believer, understand that you are welcome to come to Jesus just as you are right now. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Kenny Chesney 2009 Tour Update

Country Weekly is reporting that Kenny Chesney is thinking of taking his concerts overseas. His 2009 tour will begin in April and although that tour will include some Canadian dates, Kenny wants to reach even further. The magazine quotes Kenny as saying “The summer that I take a year off from the States might be the summer that I go over there and test the waters. My friend Bruce Springsteen told me once I go over there and build that fan base that they will always be there. So I hope he’s right. I wanna try and do that someday.”
Does this mean no Kenny for Detroit in 2009?

WEIRD BUT TRUE NEWS:

Employees at U-S Air are looking into how an 83-year-old woman in a wheelchair ended up in Puerto Rico instead of flying from New York to Tampa, Florida Monday. Elfriede Kuemmel had gone to Newburgh, New York for a day trip, said daughter Vera Kuemmel. Somehow an attendant wheeled Kuemmel to the wrong flight. Vera Kuemmel said she talked to her mother by phone at 9:30 p-m Monday and was told her mother was waiting in the baggage area. However she could not find her mother and began to panic. It was only after airport workers in San Juan, Puerto Rico and an airport police officer at Tampa International Airport became involved that everyone realized Elfriede Kuemmel was in San Juan. U-S Air has apologized to the Kuemmel family.--Originally reported by The Tampa Tribune. |

Three male and three female inmates at a southern Indiana jail face charges that they devised a way to sneak between cell blocks to help pass their time behind bars by having sex. The inmates figured out how to remove metal ceiling panels in the Greene County Jail and used the passageway more than a dozen times in September and October, according to court documents. The men -- ages 44, 38 and 17 -- and the women -- ages 27, 26 and 21 -- crawled through the ceiling after midnight, having sexual encounters and drinking homemade alcohol that was found hidden in the male cell block, a police affidavit said. One male inmate who was not charged said the female inmates would "hang-out, play cards or have sex with some of the male inmates" in their cell block. --Originally reported by The Associated Press. |

The groundskeeper at Stratford, Connecticut's Mill River Country Club has been arrested after police said he beat a skunk to death with a golf club. Kadeem Palmer, 19, was charged Tuesday with cruelty to animals. The charges were lodged after a woman complained that she saw Palmer at the golf course taking swings with a golf club at a skunk. Police said they went to the course's maintenance shack and confronted Palmer, who allegedly admitted killing the skunk. Asked if he had used a golf club, police said Palmer replied, "Yes, but the thing was almost dead anyway." --Originally reported by The Connecticut Post. |
